How to Bake Cookies in Destiny 2 The Dawning 2023

Baking holiday cookies is one of the core pieces of The Dawning 2023 in Destiny 2.

It’s that special time of year again. At the heart of The Dawning 2023 in Destiny 2 are all the holiday goodies you get to make for the characters you’ve spent the year getting to know. Here’s how to bake cookies using Eva’s Holiday Oven.

Baking cookies is the core of The Dawning 2023 experience in Destiny 2. You’ll also gather Dawning Spirit to focus Dawning weapons and, of course, the Event Card. To bake, follow these steps:

Initially, must spend 15 Essence to bake a cookie, but once you’ve baked every Dawning recipe, you can Masterwork the Oven and reduce the Essence cost to 10. The Oven will also automatically spend ingredients without you needing to manually select them.

Cookie Ingredients Explained

You can read my larger ingredients and recipes guide for The Dawning 2023, which includes every single cookie recipe. But here’s the TL;DR. The ingredients you need to bake come in two types: enemy materials and effect materials.

  • Enemy Materials you get by defeating specific enemies. Cabal Oil for defeating Cabal, Vex Milk for defeating Vex, and so on.
  • Effect Materials come from defeating enemies in certain ways. Sharp Flavor, for instance, requires you to get kills with Swords; you get Bullet Spray for getting kills with Auto Rifles, SMGs, or Machine Guns.

How Ingredient Drops Works

You can check which materials come from what kinds of combatants by checking under the Ingredients section in the Holiday Oven screen. The kicker is that because multiple ingredient types can come from a single combatant type, you’ll need to defeat a lot of them to get the materials you want.

For example, if you want Ether Cane and Delicious Explosion to bake Gjallardoodles, you need to fight Fallen and defeat enemies with Grenade abilities, Rocket Launchers, and Grenade Launchers. However, you aren’t guaranteed either ingredient for any individual kill. There’s also a chance you get an ingredient you don’t want at all (like Multifaceted Flavors). That’s especially true if you’re playing with a fireteam.

How to Farm Ingredients to Bake Cookies

To ensure you only get the ingredients you want, I recommend farming base-difficulty Lost Sectors with high enemy density. That way, the enemies are easy to defeat, and there’s no threat of other players getting in your way or adding additional effects to the enemies you need to take down.

That’s how to bake cookies in The Dawning 2023 and treat everyone to some holiday goodness in Destiny 2. For other helpful content, check out our guides on the best Hand Cannons, the Exotics you need right now, and more in our D2 guides hub.
