How to Craft the Keypad Hacker in Abiotic Factor

Crafting the Keypad Hacker opens up the second half of Abiotic Factor, or at least in its current early access release, by opening the Silo 3 doors. The Keypad Hacker also opens a lot of doors, more often than not literally. It is such an important item that it’s no surprise that it’s so hard to obtain. Here’s how to get the Keypad hacker in Abiotic Factor.

How to Make the Hacking Device in Abiotic Factor

To craft a Keyboard Hacker, you will need to build 3 items first:

• Controller.
• LCD Screen.
• Infrared Emitter.

Each requires a handful of materials, some rare and some not, but each needs a Computation Brick. This is what makes the Keyboard Hacker so hard to build since it requires acquiring a Security Bot CPU from one of the patrolling robots.

Before we get to those security bots, let’s look at everything you’ll need for the Keypad Hacker. This includes all the smaller items that you have to craft to create the device.

• 10x Circuit Boards.
• 6x Tech Scrap.
• 3x Case Fan.
• 2x Keyboards.
• 2x Desk Phones.
• 2x Boxes of Screws.
• 2x Glass Scraps.
• 1x Glowstick.

You will find most of those materials inside computers and computer monitors. The offices on the second level are probably the best place to find lots of computers. If you’ve already been there, there are also plenty of smaller offices on the third floor. One item that you won’t find in there is the Security Bot CPU.

How to Find the Security Bot CPU

You’ll have to kill a security robot to get Securty Bot CPU. After you kill 3 robots, you’ll have enough for the Keypad Hacker. This is likely the biggest challenge you will have faced up to this point, but you have two things to your advantage: high respawn rates and traps.

If you need help killing those robots, this is what worked for me: Start by building a few Shock Traps. These are easy enough to build and you likely already have some of the required materials. Make at least three, or a few more if you’re playing solo. You will also need a good weapon (I suggest a spear and a crossbow) in good condition. If this is a problem, build a Repair and Salvage Station first.

I found that the easiest robot to fight with this setup is the one in the Plaza on level 1. There’s a fountain near it that will let you cheese the fight very easily: just place traps all around it and lead the robot to walk over them. When it gets zapped, poke it with your spear. Once the robot is destroyed, make sure to destroy it with a knife to grab all its treasures, including the Security Bot CPU. Now you just need to wait for the robot to respawn and repeat the process three times.
