How to Get Tent Kits in Stardew Valley 1.6

You can go to sleep anywhere, thanks to the new Tent Kits! Here's how you can get some.

One of the best gameplay additions for me in Stardew Valley 1.6 is the Tent Kits. These will help you avoid being caught out at 2 am and explore further. Plus, they look super cute. So, here’s how to get Tent Kits in Stardew Valley 1.6.

How to Make and Use Tent Kits in Stardew Valley

Tent Kits will allow you to sleep away from the farmhouse in any outdoor location. This means you can say goodbye to that 2 am mad dash to avoid passing out. You can find a few Tent Kits to loot right now or work toward earning the crafting recipe for yourself.

Where to Get Tent Kits

It can take a bit to earn the crafting recipe for Tent Kits, so if you’d like to try some out immediately, you can loot a few of them by finding them in the world. There are three Tent Kits on Ginger Island.

Head straight down and to the right from Leo’s House on Ginger Island. You’ll see a small package tucked away near the jungle trees. Open the package to loot three Tent Kits from it. You can use them right away, but keep in mind they only have a one-time use. Until you earn the crafting recipe for yourself, you’ll want to hang onto them for special occasions.

How to Get the Tent Kits Crafting Recipe

To unlock the crafting recipe for the Tent Kits and start making them more frequently, you’ll need to reach Foraging level 8. This isn’t the maximum level for foraging, but it is pretty close and will require much grinding, especially if you’re starting over. But there are a few ways you can level up faster.

How to Level Up Foraging Fast

One of the best ways to level up foraging faster is to chop down trees, especially stumps. There are plenty of trees in the Meadowlands Farm and the area around the Wizard Tower. However, you will want to upgrade your Axe to at least a Steel upgrade to begin chopping the big stumps and clear the way to the Secret Woods.

The Secret Woods is where you can earn the most XP as quickly as possible. The entrance to the Secret Woods is right above the Wizard Tower, south of your farm, and leading off to the west. You will need a Steel Axe or greater to break the tree stump in the way. In the Secret Woods, new trees will spawn every day, allowing you to farm foraging XP steadily and, hopefully, reach level 8 in no time.

Another way you can get to level 8 is by using a cheat mod that will allow you to set your level to what you want, like CJB Cheats Menu. This saves time farming and allows you to start crafting them right away.

After reaching level 8 foraging, you will learn the crafting recipe when you go to sleep for the night. Then, in your Crafting menu, you can make a Tent Kit with the following ingredients:

  • Hardwood x10
  • Fiber x25
  • Cloth x1

After you craft the Tent Kit, you can place it down by selecting it from your toolbar and hovering over the space you want to place it. It must be an outdoor location and a clear spot without any debris or other items in the way. It turns green when it’s able to be placed. You can place more than one tent at a time, but remember that they are a one-time use. Once you use it to sleep, it will disappear the next morning.

To sleep in the tent, approach the door and interact with it by pressing M2 on PC, X on PlayStation, or A on Xbox and Switch. It will pop up the message asking you if you want to sleep for the night, exactly like your bed back at the farmhouse. This will end the day and begin the next morning.

Having these Tent Kits will save time and help you avoid losing items or energy. Stay stocked up on hardwood, fiber, and cloth to keep making them and use them for your excursions. Place one outside the mine to grind levels more efficiently, or place it to explore the desert or jungles of Ginger Island. They’ll make life in the valley much easier.
