To bring animals to your farm in LEGO Fortnite and assign them to one of your animal houses, you’ll first need to gain their trust by feeding them an Animal Treat. This special food item is specifically for feeding adorable animals around the world, so here’s how to make it!
How to Get Animal Treats in LEGO Fortnite
You cannot assign an animal to a Barn without first having an animal following you. Animals will gain trust with you and follow you back to the farm if and only if you feed them an Animal Treat.
Animal Treats are food items that you can make on a Grill. However, before you can do so, you’ll need to unlock the crafting recipe for them.
How to Unlock Animal Treats
Animal Treats will not be available right away. You’ll need to unlock the recipe before it appears in the crafting menu. Thankfully, doing so is very easy, and you may have already done it without even realizing it. All you need to do is build a Barn at your base.
A Barn is available in your Build menu under the Utility tab. You’ll need to reach level two on your Village Square and have 10 Planks to build it. You can make Planks with wood at a Lumber Mill. Once you place down a Barn, you’ll unlock the recipe for Animal Treats. That’s when you can start bringing back animals to your base.
How to Craft Animal Treats
With the recipe unlocked, you can start making some treats. Animal Treats are craftable on a Grill. Just like the other stations, the Grill is found within the Build menu under Utility.
To make a Grill, you’ll need 30 Granite. Using your pickaxe, you can collect Granite from big stones around the map. With a Grill placed at your farm, interact with it by pressing X, Square, or E, and you’ll see the list of recipes available on the left side.
Animal Treats are made with specific ingredients; they aren’t interchangeable. To craft it, you’ll need five Vines and three Corn. Both are harvestable in the world as plants. Breaking bushes and foliage will drop Vines for you. However, you’ll usually find Corn stalks growing nearby as well, and they can give you Corn and Vines simultaneously. If you can’t find any growing, you can always plant your own with the right seeds at a Soil patch.
How to Use Animal Treats in LEGO Fortnite
With some Animals Treats made at the Grill, you can now put them to use to tame some animals. Make sure they’re available in your quick slot bars on the bottom right, and look around for a wild animal.
With the Animal Treat in hand, approach an animal until a prompt pops up for you to feed it. You can press X, Square, or E on it to give it the treat. Once you’ve done so, hearts will pop up around it, and it will begin following you. After it’s following you, you can run back to one of your unassigned Barns and select the Following Animal from the list to assign it.
Ta-da! The treats have successfully done their job, and the animal is tamed and ready to start farming your materials. You’ll just have to keep them happy by dispensing food into the Barn slot and petting them every day. If you want to bring more animals to your farm, craft more treats. It’s a good idea to have some Corn growing right at camp for that very reason!
