Ruby isn’t just a pretty gemstone in LEGO Fortnite. The jewel is a valuable resource you’ll need for various crafting recipes. However, like many of the other precious resources in the survival game, it’s not easy to find. Here’s how to get rough and cut Ruby.
Where to Find Rough Ruby in LEGO Fortnite
Once you venture out of the Grasslands in LEGO Fortnite, you can craft advanced recipes. You’ll need to head into the Dry Valley desert to find Ruby. The gemstone can only be found in the Lava Caves.
I found the jewel in the upper areas of the cave and had to build a staircase to reach it, though you may find it on the walls and floors of the caves. Additionally, you’ll need a Rare Pickaxe to harvest the Rough Ruby (x3 Flexwood Rods, x3 Sand Claws).
Whether you’re freezing at night, or overheating during the day, the desert biome is full of challenges. However, the Lava Caves are the heart of the desert and are consistently hot. So, you’ll need to prepare with some heat resistance. Here’s what you can do.
- Consume a Snowberry Shake
- x2 Snow Berry
- x1 Milk
- Consume Snow Berries
- Craft and equip a Cool-headed Charm
The Cool-Headed charm is by far the best way to safely travel the Lava Caves. Otherwise, you risk running out of Snowberry consumables and overheating, and no one likes to lose their backpack.
Why You Should Get Rough Ruby
My favorite use for Rough Ruby is for the Essence of Damage charm at the Essence Table. The charm will increase your weapon damage, which is always useful. However, one of the best uses is to craft Cut Ruby.

How to Get Cut Ruby in LEGO Fortnite
Once you’ve got your Rough Ruby, you can craft the Cut Ruby at the Gem Cutter crafting station. Here’s how to craft the Gem Cutter stations.
- x20 Marble Slabs
- x5 Rough Amber
- x3 Sand Shells
- x5 Sand Claws
By far the best use for the Cut Ruby is the cold resistance Inner Fire Charm. The Charm requires x5 Cut Rubies, and you’ll need it to safely explore the Frostlands. Furthermore, to get rarer gemstones like Sapphire.
