How to Cook Porridge in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Like many recipes in the game, you can experiment with different ingredients for different results to make Porridge. And while experimenting can be fun (it’s one of the best parts of the game!), it’s understandable that you may just want to make TotK Porridge and get back to questing.

Thankfully, the ingredients are pretty easy to come by. To make Porridge in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll only need three ingredients:

  • Fresh Milk: Can be purchased or traded for. Our full Fresh Milk guide has more info.
  • Hylian Rice: Can be purchased or harvested. Our full Hylian Rice guide has more.
  • Wild Greens: Harvested throughout Hyrule.

Wild Greens are the ingredient that determines the effects of your Porridge. For instance, if you cook the dish with Hyrule Herb, you’ll simply increase the amount of hearts the dish restores. Alternatively, if you cook it up with the green Blue Nightshade, it will result in a Sneaky Veggie Porridge, increasing your stealth.

There are plenty of Greens to discover across Hyrule, so be sure to collect them as you see them in your travels. They can be found in forests and grasslands, as well as near water. It’s worth noting that not every Green in Tears of the Kingdom will have “Green” in the name. Many will be called by other names, such as Radish, Herb, Bulb, Carrot, or Thistle.

I always have fun experimenting at the cooking station. My favorite so far is to collect Sundelions and use the Sunny Veggie Porridge to fight the effects of Gloom. To view the effect of the Greens, head to your inventory and hover over the item. It’ll show the effect in the item’s description on the right.

That’s it for our guide on how to make Porridge in Tears of the Kingdom. We have plenty more recipes, walkthroughs, and strategies to help you through Hyrule. For those, check out our Zelda: TotK guides hub.
