Silvery sludge is a late-game crafting material that’s not easy to find in Dragon Quest Builders 2. Since you’ll need it for high-level weapons and some cursed armor pieces, you’ll have to do a bit of grinding.

Below, we’ll show you two places you can find the material you’re looking for. While there are most likely more drop locations in the game, farming these two spots will give you more than enough of the metallic compound.

Note that you can only get one metal slime per day in each of the following locations. Defeating five metallic monsters will net you the Mercurial Magnate trophy/achievement.

Khrumbul-Dun Mines

Travel to Khrumbul-Dun. Go to the Marshroom Naviglobe on the lower level of the mine.

From the Naviglobe, go straight and veer toward the left side of the area. Quickly, there will be a shaft/corridor that goes to the left. Take it.

Here, look for a metal slime. It will be the same shape as the other blue and orange slimes you’ve already come across in the game.

If it isn’t in this initial area, continue to follow the shaft/corridor around to the right, and then take the first left when the shaft/corridor opens into a small square. The slime may appear in this area as well.

Now, the tricky part is that you need to be in this general area at a specific time of day. Make sure the in-game sundial (the circle in the top right-hand corner of the screen that shows night and day) is at about 2 p.m.

If the slime does not show up as you make your way through the area, turn around at the end and go back through. Sometimes it takes two to three passes for the slime to appear.

Moonbrooke Cave

Travel to Moonbrooke. Go to the Castle Naviglobe, then travel southeast. You’re headed to the cave that leads to Rendarak

Once you reach the cave, go inside and follow the path to the right. When you reach the first semi-large square area (before you begin to climb up), turn around and go back to the entrance. The metal slime you’re looking for will appear either when you enter or when you leave.

However, like the slime above, you must be here at a specific time. Make sure the in-game sundial is at about 7 p.m. Like before, it may take two or three passes for the slime to appear.

This time, you’ll be looking for a flatter slime that doesn’t look like any you’ve probably seen in the game up to this point.

That’s all you need to know about Silvery Sludge in Dragon Quest Builders 2. Remember that you must be in the designated location at the designated time for the slimes to appear. You will only encounter one metal slime per in-game day at each location.
