That's it for our look at the top Minecraft seeds / maps with castles! What did you think of our picks, and have you found any others that worth adding to the list? Sound off in the comments below!

Still on the hunt for even more Minecraft seeds with other resources and biome types? Check out the latest updated seed list below:

Map: Ecclesia Darii

Does a phrase like "jaw dropping" even begin to do this justice? Look at those hedge mazes and French gardens before you even get to the insane Gothic castle!

I shudder to think of the hundreds of hours that had to have gone into this one, and hats off to the original creator!

Map: Château de Chenonceau

Talk about a labor of love! This dedicated Minecraft fan put together a painstaking recreation of the French Château de Chenonceau utilizing both historical documents and modern day maps of the castle's current state.

Unfortunately while this is a true beauty to behold on the outside, none of the interior is finished, so you'll have to take care of that part yourself. But hey, all the hard parts have already been built, so get to it already!

Map: Medieval Castle

This Minecraft castle offering is a lot more compact than the other entries on our list, which tend to be sprawling estates that make full use of every available square block.

Just look at that crenelation and those onions on top though! Is it just me or does this one give off a bit of a Russian vibe as well?

Map: Spring Castle

More than just a walled fortress, this map includes its own little bustling village to take over and call home... if you can track down eight hidden diamonds inside.

Between the houses, garden, stables, towers, blacksmith, and church, this map basically give you your own little kingdom right off the bat. There are definitely much worse places to spawn!

Map: Cathedral Castle

This gothic castle is any gamer's dream come true, giving off a vibe somewhere between those cathedrals from Final Fantasy Tactics and Zelda's Hyrule castle.

It's not just for show either, as its filled with shadowy hallways lit by sconces with a lot of work going into the interior locations as well as the exterior design. Pop it on a hilltop and you've got a perfect home base.

Map: Leisure Castle

Looking to get away from the angry zombies and creepers so you can take some time to relax and get away from the day to day workload of crafting a whole world?

This leisure palace is the right castle for you, filled to the brim with gardens, viewing areas, and spacious rooms. This one's even got a big stone fountain in the middle (or as I like to think of it, a public pool they can't kick you out of).

Map: Castle And Gladiator Area

This is more than a two-for-the-price-of-one map, as you don't just get the castle and the nifty Greek arena.

Across this map you'll find a church, a fountain, an ornamental tree walking area (perfect for reflecting on the true nature of Minecraft... or plotting to overthrow your family's enemies), a light house, and even a ship harbor!

The blue, green, and yellow color scheme comes together really well on this on as well, so its both structurally interesting and aesthetically pleasing.

Map: Peach's Castle

Replicating existing famous game locations has always been a big deal in Minecraft (remember that massive two year project to re-create Final Fantasy 7's Midgar?).

While some of them end being up more loosely inspired than meticulously recreated, this rendition of Peach Castle from Mario Bros. is actually pretty close to the source material... including the iconic flags.

Now we just need some mushrooms and turtles wandering around somewhere!

Map: Ye Old Castle

I like big flying buttresses and I cannot lie! This one's got 'em too, with plenty of design embellishments and hollowed out areas.

Between the side courtyard, bridge connecting the main and side keeps, and the defensive towers, there's plenty to explore here and lots of places to expand upward or outward.

It's a little sparse on the greenery (I guess this castle desperately needs to hire a florist) but hey, you can't have everything!

We may not be getting that long-sought Super Duper Graphics update (bummer), but there's still tons to do with the ever-expanding Minecraft world, from exploring jungles to finding the heart of the sea and even building castles.

Of course, building one from scratch is kind of a lot of work, so many players want to know where to find the best Minecraft seeds with a castle.

Unfortunately, you can't just pop in a straight seed number a get you a castle to poof into existence. For large pre-built structures of that kind, you have to download a specific map, schematic, or project first.

Here we're rounding up nine of the best castles we've found so far! Haven't downloaded other player projects to use in your Minecraft game before? Check out the full tutorial over here.

Survival 101: 10 Minecraft Tips You Might Overlook For Hardcore https://www.gameskinny.com/ddira/survival-101-10-minecraft-tips-you-might-overlook-for-hardcore https://www.gameskinny.com/ddira/survival-101-10-minecraft-tips-you-might-overlook-for-hardcore Mon, 11 Jun 2018 12:10:21 -0400 Sam Franklin

When you're new to Minecraft, you may have difficulty learning how to survive and find the items you need. This learning base can similarly be overlooked for advanced players as they attempt their first hardcore run. Fortunately, we've compiled these helpful and overlooked Minecraft tips to ensure your hardcore run is fruitful. You'll be playing like a pro in no time.

With over 122 million copies sold, Minecraft is still going strong. Of course, if you're brand new to the game, the game's Survival mode can feel quite intimidating but even returning players may find themselves struggling due to the wealth of mechanics that have likely been added since your last game.

Not to worry, we're here to help! Here are 10 Minecraft tips to help you survive to build another day.

1. Download Seeds For a Headstart

While part of the fun of Minecraft is creating your own world, sometimes you don't have an afternoon to spend crafting and building. That's where Minecraft seeds come in handy. Downloading a seed grants you access to a starting point in a pre-existing world or lets you copy elements of another player's game world into your own. Maybe there is a particular element of the game you dislike (like hunting for a settlement or the long trek for monuments in the late game) which is where seeds can help eliminate these aspects.

2. Prioritize Wood Early

While materials like copper and stone are certainly important, when you pop into a game world, your priority should be finding wood given its flexibility in creating all manner of vital items. While an expert player might look for stronger resources early you can quickly find yourself blocked due to the lack of wood.

3. Ignore Enemies At First

As any Minecraft player can tell you, the game world is a much different place at night and definitely so when playing on the harder difficulties. Enemies spawn more frequently in an attempt to thwart your crafting efforts. It can be tempting to get some quick EXP from fighting them. But trust us, it's better to dodge them and keep crafting, at least until you get some stronger weapons.

4. Build Torches To Light Up Your World

Terrible pun withstanding, torches really do make a huge difference in Minecraft. After all, you can't expect to hit an enemy if you can't even see them. Before the first night, make sure you have plenty of torches on hand so you can see your surroundings and place them strategically around your main hub.

5. Pay Attention To Your Surroundings

If you're new to the game it's easy to get lost. After spawning into a new game world, orient yourself according to the sun. It'll always set in the west and rise in the east. It may sound like one of those Minecraft tricks that won't come in handy all that often, but if you get lost, you can use the sun or moon to find your way back to camp.

6. Don't Dig Straight Down (Ever)

If you're trying to see how long you can last, falling into a hot pit of lava isn't a great tactic. If you must dig beneath your character, make sure not to dig too deep. At a certain point, you'll fall and perish.

7. You Can Go Underwater (And You'll Have To For The Water Monument)

You can search watery areas for extra materials like sand and ocean monuments. Make sure you keep an eye on your oxygen levels, as your character can drown if they remain underwater too long.

8. Lava Can Be Useful

If you touch it or fall into it, lava can cause a great deal of harm to your character. However, it's an essential component in creating obsidian portals, so stocking up on a few blocks of lava may not be a bad idea if you're careful.

9. Keep Extra Blocks In Your Inventory

It's always a good idea to keep some extra building materials on hand, especially if you're far away from your base. If night falls and you're lost, you can simply build a small makeshift base to keep yourself safe.

10. It's Okay To Use Cheat Codes

Minecraft is all about fun. If your idea of fun is using cheat codes to enhance your game, don't feel ashamed to use them! Adding a few extra blocks or turning on invincibility can take the stress out of Survival mode and allow you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the game.

Use these Minecraft tips to conquer the world one block at a time Minecraft is a ton of fun, but staying alive in Survival (and Hardcore) mode can be quite the challenge.

How to Fix Controller Issue in Minecraft VR Windows 10 Edition https://www.gameskinny.com/vdkjx/how-to-fix-controller-issue-in-minecraft-vr-windows-10-edition https://www.gameskinny.com/vdkjx/how-to-fix-controller-issue-in-minecraft-vr-windows-10-edition Wed, 30 May 2018 17:44:50 -0400 Lisa Filmer

Shortly after I bought my Windows Mixed Reality Headset, I wanted to play Minecraft VR in Windows 10 with it. The game looks great, but I could not get my Xbox controller to work with it. Some of the buttons would work, like the “A” and “B”, but nothing else. So, I couldn’t craft or pull up the inventory. This was a game-breaking problem because you cannot play it that way.

I tried talking to Xbox, Mojang, and Microsoft to fix the problem. Xbox told me to contact Mojang, and Mojang told me to contact Microsoft. Also, I searched the web for a solution myself. After much frustration, I found the answer to my problem.

To fix the controller issues with Minecraft VR, you need to run the game, go into the settings option, go to video options, and turn off screen animations. You might want to restart the game if it doesn’t work. After you run it again, your controller should work correctly, with all buttons functional.

So there you go! You can now play Minecraft VR with your Xbox controller. Have a great time -- I know I will!

Spawn Near a Desert Temple

Seed: 160899062504171455
Biomes: Plains, Desert

Channel your inner Indy as you spawn next to a desert temple filled with iron ingots, gunpowder, a gold saddle, and a golden apple!

Head over to the nearby desert village (coordinates: 251, 126) and use the farms and furnace to begin advancing. Loot the treasure chest to score an iron chestplate, iron leggings, and two gold ingots before journeying into the unknown.

Spawn Near a Village with Three Biomes

Seed: 2594331599058199042
Biomes: Plains, Savanna, Desert

Spawn next to a plains village abutting not one, but two biomes! Players can make use of the village’s farms, communal well, furnace, and treasure chest containing bread, four iron ingots, and a saddle before venturing into the wild.

Heated in the desert? Locate the wells as you head east toward the nearby desert temple (coordinates: 250, 266).

Spawn Near an Igloo

Seed: 8000755799485163166
Biomes: Taiga, Cold Taiga

In this Minecraft seed, you'll spawn on the Taiga coast and want to head south across the ocean to discover an igloo (coordinates: 125, 43), stocked with a bed, crafting table, furnace, and secret entrance to an underground room (often referred to as the “basement”). Discover the process for curing a Zombie Villager!

You can also take advantage of the cave adjacent to the laboratory by breaking through the wall or descending the open shaft to gather iron and coal.

Spawn Near Mushroom Island

Seed: 3225594858440350777
Biomes: Savanna, Mushroom Island

If you’ve ever dreamed of heading through the looking glass, look no further. Mushroom Island is one of Minecraft’s rarer biomes, filled with giant mushrooms and mushroom-covered cows.

Spawn along the Savanna coastline and construct a boat from the nearby acacia trees before setting sail westward to your destination (coordinates -677, 190). While the island is a bit far from the mainland, you can take advantage of the several land points along the way to erect light towers that can guide you back to the mainland.

Note: Mushrooms are great for making stews, but if you have a wooden bowl, you can harvest mushroom stew by milking the mooshroom.

Spawn Near a Savanna Plateau

Seed: 1700472095922974599
Biomes: Savanna M

Monsters, begone! In this Minecraft seed, you'll spawn near the massive rock structure shown in the screenshot above and take to the skies by riding the natural waterfall to the plateau. Once you get there, you can make use of the acacia trees to build a shelter and start your new village -- if that's your type of thing.

Players can also raid the nearby desert temple (coordinates: 791, -260) for starting materials, or they can take advantage of the village (coordinates: 1179, 135) farther in the desert biome to get some much-needed supplies and building materials.

Spawn Near a Jungle Temple

Seed: -2343509045483649622
Biomes: Plains, Jungle

Look for the bare necessities! Spawn on the coastline of the plains biome where you can find an abundance of sheep and wood. (The nearby hills provide a few coal deposits that can be used to make torches.) After a day’s worth of foraging, head north toward the plains village (coordinates: 307, -156) to locate a crafting table and additional resources.

When you’re ready, brave the jungle temple (coordinates: -167, 311) by going northwest toward the jungle biome. Jungle temples often contain two chests, so be sure to disable the tripwires before proceeding.

Note: Jungle biomes can be difficult to navigate, but the stone temples unique to this region provide a basic introduction to Minecraft’s redstone mechanics. Consider implementing the temple’s redstone in your own stronghold!

Spawn Near a Village with a Dungeon

Seed: 8327359431265809414
Biomes: Beach, Plains

Spawn adjacent to a plains village equipped with farms, furnaces, and a dungeon! Scale the gorge or break the dirt to reach the monster spawner and claim the ultimate prize: Music Disc: C418 – Cat. (If you’re not a cat person, Music Disc: C418 – 13 drops, too.) Players can also take advantage of the dungeon’s stockpile of gunpowder, redstone, bones, and a bucket, which can be used to harvest the nearby lava.

Note: The plains village is swarming with Zombie Villagers that will need to be dealt with. Need a weapon? Raid the nearby desert temple (coordinates: 10, 171) for materials to craft an iron sword or pickaxe.

When you’re ready to skip town, the village’s treasure chest contains bread, apples, diamond horse armor, oak saplings, and obsidian. Don't forget the crafting table!

Spawn Near an Abandoned Mine Shaft

Seed: -3817467640642269151
Biomes: Forest, Ice Plains

Heigh-Ho! Spawn in a densely forested area with access to pigs, chickens, and sheep. Gather some resources before heading north toward the ice plains, where you’ll discover an unassuming cave hidden beneath the trees (coordinates: 56, 102). Take advantage of the coal and iron deposits at the cave’s entrance, as venturing further will reveal a massive abandoned mine shaft filled with lapis lazuli ore, redstone ore, and gold.

You may want to consider setting up camp with a bed crafted from the wool and wood provided at the spawn point in case of defeat.

Treasure chests can be found at the following coordinates:

  • 82, 132
  • \n
  • 87, 100
  • \n
  • 101, 92
  • \n
  • 105, 135
  • \n

Spawn Near Three Water Temples

Seed: -3283950059235567169
Biomes: Beach, Deep Ocean

Survival island! Team up with your friends or brave the world alone as you spawn on a tiny island in the deep ocean. With no trees immediately available, you can head west from the spawn point to encounter larger islands with additional resources, or go east toward the jungle biome where you’ll find cows, pigs, and iron and coal deposits beneath the trees.

When you’re ready, dive into one of the three nearby ocean monuments to defeat the elder guardian. Here are their coordinates:

  1. (-150, -215)
  2. \n
  3. (-284, 248)
  4. \n
  5. (167, -402)

Everything You Need to Know About Minecraft's Better Together and Graphical Updates https://www.gameskinny.com/bm8ii/everything-you-need-to-know-about-minecrafts-better-together-and-graphical-updates https://www.gameskinny.com/bm8ii/everything-you-need-to-know-about-minecrafts-better-together-and-graphical-updates Fri, 25 Aug 2017 11:50:50 -0400 ThatGamersAsylum

Everyone knows Minecraft. It's the biggest phenomenon we've seen in many years, even beating out the likes of Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. Unlike most games, Minecraft has pierced through the gaming world and into pop culture at large. This is all thanks largely to its mass appeal to people of all ages.

In the last several years, Minecraft has spread from PC to consoles and mobile device, spawning a number of different editions for nearly every device out there. But this hit builder is about to see some big changes soon, as Microsoft/Mojang is making some moves to consolidate all these versions of Minecraft and make various other updates that will bring it into the current generation of gaming.

In a timeframe that has only been described as “Autumn”, Microsoft will be releasing an update they are calling Better Together, a couple of different graphics enhancements, and a new Xbox One S console bundle for good measure. Here's everything you need to know about these big changes and how they might affect your Minecraft game.

Minecraft Better Together Update

The Better Together update is going to be changing a lot -- including whether or not your version of the game will continue to be supported. It's intended to unite most of the versions of Minecraft across various platforms into one common experience going forward.

This means that people who are playing Minecraft on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices (iOS/Android), and the Windows 10 version of the game will be able to play together and get dev updates at the same time.

For years now, Minecraft has had various versions out in the wild. But unifying the player experience means that everyone will need to have the same version of the game, so to speak. This means that people playing on some platforms may have more growing pains than others.

It is also important to note that old versions of the game -- like those on PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U -- will still work, but they will not be receiving updates going forward.

What does this update mean for your specific version? Here's the rundown on what's changing for each platform.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available on the App Store and Google Play for $6.99. If you already own the game on mobile, all you'll have to do for the Better Together update is download it and continue to play like normal. You should see very few changes to your play experience.

Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Digital Editions

If you own a digital copy of the game, then you're in the clear when the Better Together update launches. You will be given a free download of the new version of the game -- all you have to do is download it. This is presumed to be through a voucher code, that's not 100% clear. We'll update this article when definite information has been released.

If you don't own the game but you want to check it out now with all the new updates coming, you can download Minecraft on Xbox One for $19.99 and Nintendo Switch for $29.99.

Physical Editions

Fans who have a physical copy of Minecraft will be disappointed to learn that they'll might have to purchase the title again to continue receiving developer support after the Better Together update.

How it works is a little bit complex. If you've played the game for at least 5 hours within the last year, then you'll be given free access to the updated game when it releases -- and you'll get it on the console of your choice. (And yes, you can go play for 5 hours right now and it will still count.)

This access is only available for a limited time, but the actual window of opportunity for players hasn't been disclosed.

There will technically be two different versions of Minecraft on PC. The Windows 10 version will receive the Better Together update. But the original version of the game, which will now be called Minecraft: Java Edition (because its programming language is Java), will not be getting the update.

Both versions are currently available for $26.99.

As of the writing of this article, the PS4 is not going to be receiving the Better Together Update since Sony has not yet agreed to allow it on their platform. But hope is not lost, as Sony and Microsoft are currently in negotiations.

The bad news, however, is that the old version of Minecraft will no longer be purchasable after the update has been released -- meaning that the PS4 might not allow you to purchase any version of Minecraft unless a settlement is reached.

You can buy the digital version of Minecraft: PS4 Edition now for $19.99.

If you have any other questions that were unanswered by all of this, then you can also check out the official FAQ

Minecraft Better Graphics Update

Minecraft's graphics will also be seeing an improvement during the same vague time frame of “Autumn”. Basically, all the platforms that receive the Better Together Upgrade will also be receiving this graphical update to enhance the look of the game and make it compatible with higher-resolution devices. The update in question is promised to include:\

  • 4K HDR Graphics
  • Improved lighting
  • Enhanced shadows
  • Realistic water effects
Super Duper Graphics Pack

In addition to this graphical overhaul, current-gen console and Win10 users will also have access to a free DLC called the Super Duper Graphics pack. This pack will add:

"Dynamic shadows, lighting that streams through fog, movement in leaves and grass, new textures for mobs and villagers, directional lighting, edge highlighting and more!"

This DLC will be available on the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions of the game. It is said to perform best on the Xbox One X and high-end PCs. There is no news as to whether this will come to the Switch.

Note: Microsoft has confirmed that players will not be forced to upgrade their graphics. If you like the old graphics, then you are more than welcome to keep them.

Xbox One S Bundle

Lastly, there is a new Minecraft Xbox One S Console bundle that was just announced alongside these multiple updates. Set to release on October 3, 2017, this 1TB Xbox One S will set you back $400.

It will include:

  1. Xbox One S Limited Edition 1TB Console
  2. Limited Edition Creeper Xbox Wireless Controller
  3. Minecraft digital code
  4. Minecraft Redstone Pack bonus content digital code
  5. Xbox One S Vertical Stand
  6. 1-month Xbox Game Pass trial
  7. 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial

If you are interested in this bundle, then you can pre-order it from Microsoft's website.

So there you have it folks! All the biggest, most important details you need to know about the upcoming changes to Minecraft. I hope this helped you out! If you need any more help don't forget about the FAQ that should be able to answer some of your more specific questions. And as always, don't be afraid to leave a comment down below if you want more information!

Minecraft Adds New "Minecraft Marketplace" https://www.gameskinny.com/e057u/minecraft-adds-new-minecraft-marketplace https://www.gameskinny.com/e057u/minecraft-adds-new-minecraft-marketplace Mon, 10 Apr 2017 13:46:39 -0400 Nick Lee

The 1.1 Discovery update to Minecraft will allow players to create, download, and interact with one another's creations for the very first time. Available across Windows 10 and mobile, the update allows users to more efficiently purchase user-generated content using Minecraft Coins via in-app purchases. For now, Minecraft Coins will act as in-game money for downloads only, while the app store will take 30% of each download, leaving the rest of the profit for community creators.

New Minecraft Commerce

The public beta for the update is set to launch in mid-April to test Minecraft Coins, but it won't unveil creator content just yet (more on that below). The staff at minecraft.net explained in a press release how content creators will profit off of this new feature:

It's super important to us that this is the biggest chunk of the profit: when a cool skin or map gets purchased, the app store platforms take a 30% cut, but creators get the majority after that.

Restrictions and Future Content

Before content creators are able to get their content in the marketplace, Mojang has partnered with larger crafters such as Noxcrew, Polymaps, and Sphax to set initial content-for-sale examples. In order for players to actually sell items in this new market, they must be a part of the Minecraft Partner Program, which makes them an officially registered business.

Then, the user-created content players purchase will be available across all platforms via Xbox Live accounts, so there won't be any accidental re-buying of the same item or piece of content. To answer questions about the update and all things featured therein, Mojang will host a Reddit AMA on April 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. PST.

8 Minecraft Survival Island Seeds To Test Your Skills https://www.gameskinny.com/pegs6/8-minecraft-survival-island-seeds-to-test-your-skills https://www.gameskinny.com/pegs6/8-minecraft-survival-island-seeds-to-test-your-skills Tue, 21 Feb 2017 08:00:01 -0500 Ty Arthur

[Take me back to GameSkinny's Ultimate Minecraft Seed Guide]

After the silliness of recent detours into not-so-famous celebrity Minecraft skins and a series of naughty seeds for the dirty minded, it's time to get back on track with some serious seeds.

All the seeds below spawn you on an island with various biome types that have one thing in common: very few resources, and lots of ways to die. Think you have what it takes to tackle a survival island seed?

Important note: these seeds were all tested in Minecraft's Windows 10 edition (which is very similar to the Pocket Edition). In other versions you will get totally different biomes or the seed may not load at all.

Spawn On A Sparse Island Surrounded By Water

Seed: 750505317

This one will test your skills, with only sparse elements available and very little opportunity to build anything substantial before night falls and the monsters come out. If you scan the horizon, you can see more (equally sparse) islands at the edge of your vision for those who fancy a nice long swim.

Spawn On A Towering Vertical Island

Seed: 750505317

A beauty to behold, this seed starts you on a small island that goes vertical rather than horizontal. There's a killer view from the top, but you shouldn't just go up - be sure to head around the side and find the cave to delve into that goes even further down!

Spawn Near Two Lush Islands

Seed: 238746687714901116

A little more survivable, this one has a lot more to offer and some underground areas to explore. There's also an interesting difference on display here between the various version of Minecraft: in Windows 10 edition, this one spawns on a small island covered in tall trees next to a larger island covered in flowers with a few animals. In other editions, this is a tiny, dead island that's nearly impossible to play.

Spawn Near A Series Of Large Islands

Seed: -6185261765285097501

With a long string of bigger islands with different biomes, it might seem like this one's not too difficult to survive... but wait until you see all the aggressive mobs that come out of the forest!

Spawn On A Triple Island

Seed: 1631701723

This nifty seed gets you a varied collection of biome types on three small islands right next to one another, along with a random cow and pig here and there. The triple island seems to be a recurring theme, because you can swim off the coast and find more of these triple chains off in the distance with different spawns.

Spawn Near A Land Bridge

Seed: -398293529024122595

This seed plops you on a small island covered in trees but otherwise with very sparse vegetation: you'll be lucky to grab a few mushrooms and that's it. There's lots of room to explore though without the danger of drowning, as the water isn't deep at all. In fact, there's only a tiny one-block layer of water leading to chain of similar islands with slightly different spawns.

Spawn On A Deserted Crescent Island

Seed: -398293529024122595

This crescent-shaped island is so big it's nearly an archipelago, but for all that land mass its nearly devoid of anything usable or interesting. Staying alive through the night will be difficult for all but the most seasoned of Minecraft veterans.

Spawn On An Island With A Village

Seed: -1060246543

For when you're tired of a lack of resources and nowhere to hide at night, use this fun little seed as a palette cleanser, starting you off on an island but straight in a pre-built and occupied village for safety.

What did you think of these Minecraft survival islands, and what seeds would you recommend we try out that start you off in a desert island with minimal resources?

Get Famous with These Minecraft Celebrity Skins https://www.gameskinny.com/lgydi/get-famous-with-these-minecraft-celebrity-skins https://www.gameskinny.com/lgydi/get-famous-with-these-minecraft-celebrity-skins Sat, 28 Jan 2017 08:50:58 -0500 Ty Arthur

I'm not going to beat around the bush here: you Minecraft fans are a weird bunch. Just take a look at that image up there. Somebody spent a whole lot of hours painstakingly recreating Hugh Laurie's face next to a Mariachi player in ugly blocks.

That's not even the weirdest place Minecraft fanatics are willing to go, either. From nude skins (why? what is appealing about nudity in Minecraft's pixelated format?), to NSFW seeds based on porno terms, this low-res phenomenon isn't shy about delving into some truly bizarre depths.

I don't know why I expected any different, but Minecraft fans also have some truly odd celebrity preferences. You aren't trying to make your characters look like Ariana or Kanye or even Trump. Nope, the most searched-for celebrity Minecraft skin this week was none other than...

Joan Rivers

Wait... what?!? Of all the celebs in the world, this is the one you want to explore pixelated biomes with? Here's the best part -- no one has actually made a Joan Rivers skin yet. I've scoured the Internet and found absolutely nothing. It's sadly a Minecraft desire that will have to go unfulfilled -- for now.

I've never made a custom skin myself, so I'm no help there, but I figured I'd try my hand at some mock-ups by pixelating a few pics of the prolific (and sadly now deceased) comedian. Here are my sad attempts at what Joan might look like in Minecraft:

Hmmm... that's not going to work

Oh dear god we've gone terribly wrong here

Why do I keep creating horrifying monstrosities? Is this why no one else has made a Joan Rivers skin yet?

No question - this is the one. We're keeping it.

Gareth Bale

Get Him Here!

Full disclosure: I had absolutely no idea who this dude was prior to today. Apparently, he's Welsh and he plays soccer -- and tons of people want to be him in Minecraft. He's also apparently signed with his team through 2022. So this one will be relevant for a little while longer.

This also looks nothing like him.

Julianne Hough

Get Her Here!

For a few minutes there, I was really worried about you guys and thought you'd abandoned your desire to mod games to add in attractive blonde women.

But that was a misplaced fear, because after Joan Rivers and Gareth Bale, Minecraft players really, really want to be this Hollywood C-lister and Dancing With The Stars champ.

Hats off to whoever made this skin too, because the resemblance is simply uncanny.

 The source material

Nailed It! It's like a perfect double!

Britney Spears

Get Her Here!

So this one at least makes some sort of sense, although now I'm asking myself: do kids these days even know Britney Spears was a thing and she wasn't just that lady who shaved her head and went nuts?

There was a whole generation of us growing up being told what a bad influence she was on our morals with her sultry dances and risque songs. Personally, I was blasting a lot of Dimmu Borgir and Hecate Enthroned at the time, so maybe all that parental outrage was a bit misplaced. And on that note...

Hey, at least this kinda looks like her!

Black Metal Guy

Get Him Here!

...here's a corpse paint Minecraft skin so you can bring out your inner Hoest or Shagrath! Granted, most people may not think of black metal vocalists as celebrities (and you're wrong by the way), but we've got a pixelated Joan Rivers flipping everyone off up there, so really anything goes here.

How is this the best one of the bunch?!?

What did you think of these celebrity skins, and what famous actor, musician, or athlete would you like to dress up as in blocky Minecraft format?

Naughty Minecraft Seeds for the Dirty Minded https://www.gameskinny.com/x0i0q/naughty-minecraft-seeds-for-the-dirty-minded https://www.gameskinny.com/x0i0q/naughty-minecraft-seeds-for-the-dirty-minded Tue, 10 Jan 2017 14:46:22 -0500 Ty Arthur

[Take me back to GameSkinny's Ultimate Minecraft Seed Guide]

A whole new world of silliness was opened up to me upon discovering the existence of Minecraft nude texture packs a few months ago along with a host of videos where people get... creative... with building various objects in the game. From nipple mountains to giant floating butts in the sky, there's no low Minecraft players won't reach!

In that same spirit, I unleashed my inner 12 year old and went searching for every Minecraft seed you ever had too much dignity (or shame) to ever type in! Below we cover some of the more interesting and playable seeds using exclusively dirty terms.

Remember to type these seed names in exactly: variations in capitalization and punctuation will give you a different map altogether! All of these seeds were also generated and played in Minecraft Windows 10 edition – using other versions may result in different biomes and layouts, or nothing loading at all.

Spawn Near A Plateau And Village

Seed: xnxx

Savanna, plateau, and desert biomes all collide side by side in this seed that has a little bit of everything, just like its namesake website. Most prominent on the horizon is a huge mountain with a village on the side where you can easily pick up some iron equipment. For anyone wondering, yes -- xnxx does have a page for “Minecraft” tagged porno vids. If people-shaped blocks getting it on is your thing, go have some fun!

Spawn Near Forests And Caves

Seed: hentai

There may not be any tentacles or Japanese school girls, but there are zombies and flaming enemies that spawn in a lake next to you immediately! There's actually quite a bit to explore here after high tailing it way from the mobs, with mountains, forests, lakes, caves, and horses all right next to where you spawn.

Spawn Near Mountains And Rivers

Seed: Penis Land

We all know the old joke about Pen Island, and it was only a matter of time before that became a Minecraft seed. While there are plenty of mountains, there aren't any giant phallic monuments anywhere -- I guess they're leaving it up to you to build your own! In fact you are practically being outright challenged to do so, because if you look up at night, you'll see a blocky moon waiting to be reached somehow...

Spawn Near Savanna And Extreme Hills

Seed: Loincloth

Although the spawn location is pretty sparse, there's actually a lot going on in this seed if you spend a little time travelling, from extreme hills and plateaus to caves filled with mobs. You should probably install some texture packs to make everyone looks like beefcake gladiators with loincloths, you know, for consistency's sake.

Spawn On The Border Of Two Biomes

Seed: dp

I'm amused to no end that this seed spawns you on the edge of a double biome (somebody knew what they were doing), with a massive ocean on one side and a thick jungle on the other. Never heard the term "dp" before? Hit up an adult site and search the term!

Spawn Near Extreme Hills And Islands

Seed: Boobs

When in doubt, simply typing "Boobs" and hoping for the best is rarely a bad way to go. This seed has some seriously huge... assets! Get ready to scale gigantic mountains, find breathtaking waterfalls, and if you feel like it, hitting the ocean to explore several fjords and islands nearby. Find a place to hide early though, because the mobs that spawn at night are nasty.

Spawn Near A Whole Lotta Forest Canopy

Seed: Shoot The Mime

OK, this seed's not exactly "dirty," but I can't stop laughing at the name of this one I found just typing in random nonsense phrases that popped into my head. If you aren't a fan of mimes either (or you have a truly weird fetish...) typing in this seed name offers up super dense jungle areas with some minor rivers and hills. Here you can easily traverse the canopy top entirely instead of doing anything on the ground or in caves.

Lets Get Naughty!

Looking for something a little more risque and featuring actual naughty bits rather than just titillating seed titles? Be sure to check out our lists of the best of the best in NSFW gaming:

Top 10 Halloween and Autumn Minecraft Seeds https://www.gameskinny.com/71cxe/top-10-halloween-and-autumn-minecraft-seeds https://www.gameskinny.com/71cxe/top-10-halloween-and-autumn-minecraft-seeds Sat, 29 Oct 2016 12:24:17 -0400 Angelo De Bellis

It's starting to get a little chilly out and the moon is popping up just that much earlier—autumn has certainly arrived. And of course, with autumn comes Halloween, and with Halloween comes a bunch of warm drinks and some good hours of gaming.

What better way to enjoy the thrills and spooks of the sugary holiday than with a fun list of my top 10 Minecraft seeds? Each seed leads to an area in Minecraft that is scary, dark, or somehow related to Halloween and the autumn season. Enjoy!

1. Spawn near a congregation of witch huts

Source: Minecraft XL

Seed: 318041875063143073

What’s Halloween without some pointy headed witches? This seed will lead you to an area full of witch huts, so you can get your fill of the hostile forms as you continue your travels. Just make sure you carry a Milk Bucket to protect you when you go trick-or-treating—you never know what kind of spells they’ll cast on you.

2. Spawn near a village and a cornucopia of pumpkins

Source: Minecraft Seeds

Seed: Kingly

Hey pumpkin face, take it easy with the pumpkin spice lattes. This seed clearly knows Halloween is ready to up the ante—rounded pumpkins aren't talked about much on Reddit. No, cube-shaped fruit is much tastier, harder to smash on the streets, and easily stackable. Head here if you want to join in on the progressive festivities!

3. Spawn near a Woodland Mansion

Source: JerenVids

Seed: -4589128118707775879

It seems that the bigger the mansion, the more vacant, and the more vacant, the more foreboding. Halloween films typically feature these creepy structures, so I thought it was imperative that I add such a location to my list. I didn’t post a picture of the interior because I want you to have fun exploring the large space for yourself.

Half of the excitement from seeking thrills comes from an adventure led by you. Even if there doesn’t end up being anything creepy on the inside, use your imagination; the location of the mansion walled in by all the trees is certainly disturbing enough for me.

4. Spawn near an abandoned mine shaft

Source: Minecraft Seeds

Seed: -810391368445847414

From empty houses to abandoned mines, it seems that the most mysterious of places are the ones that make us question their past. This seed will lead you to an unassuming area between plains and a forest, but it you do a little searching, you’ll find a cave entrance that leads to a mine.

A mine scary? I know, it’s not exactly what one would think of when it comes to your typical Halloween setting, but the “abandoned” distinction makes all the difference. Imagine a mine that has been out of service for years, but the stubborn carts persist to carry on with their business. If you ask me, that’s pretty creepy.

I wonder if the carts are carrying any candy? My favorites are chewable caramel cubes, skittles, Rockets, and Coffee Crisp. Hard to imagine the expiry date on that candy.

5. Spawn near a small, secluded island

Source: Epic Minecraft Seeds

Seed: -8290517664781417306

The thought of a living on a private island can be quite alluring. There are no people to deal with, no Facebook messages to answer, no assignments to finish, and not a single mother nagging you to mow the lawn.

It all sounds rather peaceful until you realize that you are all alone, forever. Like the mansion and the decrepit mine shaft, the isolated island ranks high in the scare factor because you never know what odd find is lurking around the corner.

I’ve been told there are ocean monuments on the island--the thought of dungeonous halls alone sound rather freaky to me. Who knows what kind of dance moves are going on down there when you're sleeping at night . . . in your single bed . . . in your quiet house . . . on your segregated island.

6. Spawn near a snow-decorated forest

Source: Goplay

Seed: 1408803813

After all the turkey, gifts, get-togethers, and candy from Halloween, comes the bitter cold of winter. With the cold aftermath comes the snow, and that is certainly scary. Say what you want about it being gentle and decorative, but when I see snow, I think of all the shoveling, slipping, and wet feet that come with it.

Just the fact that the snowy weather follows Halloween, is enough to scare the giblets out of me. But if you’re one of those who likes the electromagnetic brilliance of the white stuff, or you enjoy the rush of fear that comes with the wait for impending slush, this is the seed for you. You’ll find forests full of snow, and more than enough sky sprinkles to litter the pixels on your screen.

7. Spawn situated near a village

Source: Minecraft Seeds Wiki

Seed: 2354472788974084399

The interesting thing about this seed is that it spawns you in a location between three different landscapes: a desert, grasslands, and a savanna. The village nearby is said to make you a bit uneasy, probably because of how it is situated between so much contrasting geology.

The intersection of three landscapes makes for a Frankenstein-like playground, a dissociation of identities. And that lack of coherence delivers a heavy amount of queasiness to my stomach.

What’s worse, or better depending on your sadistic orientation, is that you will find a deep forest nearby. And if there’s anything that we’ve learned about sheltered locations, it’s that they are awfully eerie.

8. Spawn located just above a dungeon

Source: Epic Minecraft PE Seeds

Seed: meh

The makings of a well-brewed Halloween: Spiders, cobwebs, and dungeons. It doesn’t get more Halloween than this.

When you use this seed, you will find yourself near a desert village. Though it’s unassuming, and certainly bears no indication of what lurks below, if you dig straight down, you’ll be treated with a hellish find. But first you have to travel through another dreaded mineshaft before you can sneak around the dark dungeon pictured above.

9. Spawn near an oceanside hill

Source: Epic Minecraft PE Seeds

Seed: 86mph

When it comes to Halloween movies and other thrills, zombies are overdone. That’s why this Minecraft seed is perfect—you’ll find yourself near a zombie mob spawner. Now you can enjoy an infinite supply of zombies!

Like the previous seed, you’ll first have to do some digging from the spawn point to find the vacuous brainivores. When you do, let us know if they hug as tightly as the Gibdos from the Zelda series.

10. Spawn inside a skeleton dungeon

Source: Minecraft Seeds

Seed: 1736813803934715730

We’re getting good at hunting this macabre stuff, aren't we? This final seed will take you to a dungeon that is full of people just like you and me, minus the flesh.

I’m not quite sure how they manage to move without a brain—maybe the zombies could help them find one. The other curious thing about this particular skeleton is that it appears to be on fire inside a cage—I suppose that’s one way to burn off all the fat gained from Halloween.

We’ve seen witches, pumpkins, forests, mansions, isolated locales, zombies, and even some terrifying white stuff. If that’s not enough to get your hairs to stand on end, then you’re a tough sell. That or you just don’t get the fun of Halloween and the autumn months. Either way, I hope you enjoyed this list and take the time to do some exploration of your own in Minecraft. The colored blocks are waiting for you.

AntVenom makes some really catchy music. His channel has more than just music, with tips and tricks in between. But when he drops a music video, you'll be happy you subscribed -- even if that's not your thing.

Besides music videos, he also does in-game experiments, Minecraft top lists, and overviews of the Pocket and Console versions of Minecraft.

That's our list of channels to watch for Minecraft music, both big and small. Be sure to check out our countdown of the best Minecraft music videos as well.

Hopefully you like our list, but let us know if there are any other great content creators you'd like to see get noticed!

This channel is slightly different. Instead of Minecraft Music videos made in the Minecraft video editor, it's actually TheMusicalKnight making music within Minecraft itself.

He makes and shows off musical note compilations in-game. He's got a smaller channel, but being that it's something different, it seemed worth mentioning! Smaller numbers don't necessarily mean bad content -- and in this case it defintely doesn't!

Phantaboulous has been making Minecraft music videos since 2012 and is still going strong today!

His About page on YouTube states that he posts about once every month or two, which is a pretty good turn-around time for music and animation. And interesting fact: He's from the Netherlands.

This YouTuber is a smaller, but up-and-coming creator. They upload roughly on a 1-2 month basis -- although sometimes instead of a music video, it's just an animation.

These smaller guys deserve some love, and EnchantedMod is pretty good at what they do. So while this may be a place to grow, it's also got some quality music videos as well!

Minecraft Jams!

Minecraft Jams is run by a creator named Dwayne Russell. He's actually a professional music composer for TV networks like MTV, Bravo, and CBS.  He started this channel because his son was a huge Minecraft fan, and it just took off from there.

As many of you may know, Minecraft music videos are very popular.  They've actually been around for a number of years -- long enough for some artists to have come and gone.

There have been artists like CaptainSparklez who seem to have moved on from music, or at least taken a long hiatus. But this is a list of channels currently producing music for Minecraft to look out for.

Note that subscriber count isn't necessarily a deciding factor here! After all, who would read a list of things they didn't know for the sake of self-confirmation?  Hopefully you haven't heard of some of these artists so that they can grow their fan-base and keep making awesome Minecraft music.

Add-ons, Sponges, and Bosses Oh My! Minecraft PE/W10 0.16 Gets an Update https://www.gameskinny.com/twvu4/add-ons-sponges-and-bosses-oh-my-minecraft-pew10-016-gets-an-update https://www.gameskinny.com/twvu4/add-ons-sponges-and-bosses-oh-my-minecraft-pew10-016-gets-an-update Fri, 21 Oct 2016 10:48:40 -0400 Joshua Harris

Wet sponges, not wet blankets, are making their debut in the Minecraft Pocket and Windows 10 Editions as the beta moves into version 0.16 today. And with the new version comes lots of changes, including add-ons, sponges, and bosses.

Add-Ons are now available, which will completely change how Minecraft is played on the mobile and PC platforms. For example, it means that animal mobs (like chickens) can have their behaviors tweaked so that players can ride them -- or that monster mobs, like creepers, can have their explosions leave a larger impact.

Mojang encourages players to share their creations with their friends and family and even set up a page to give crafters an idea of where to begin in their creative endeavors. There is also an FAQ for anyone who is still unclear about how Add-Ons work or still have questions about how the latest addition to Minecraft works.

Players will also be excited to know that they now have the ability upload/download their worlds to the Minecraft Realms servers. With this newfound freedom people can now share their offline worlds with their friends and the public, as well as download a Realm or two to play offline. Another useful feature includes using Realms to make regular backups of offline maps, which will come in handy for those more adventurous and destructive crafters.

If that wasn't enough to tickle your Minecraft fancy, players now have a reason to explore the Ocean Monuments. Along with Guardians and Elder guardians, these underwater fortresses also include prismarine, sea lanterns, and many many more surprises.

The Miscellaneous Update Goodies

Mojang also included a host of new features and tweaks, which includes:

New Features

  • Ocean Monuments
  • Guardians and Elder Guardians
  • Prismarine, dark prismarine & prismarine bricks
  • Prismarine shard & prismarine crystal
  • Sea lanterns
  • The Wither!
  • Nether star
  • Beacon
  • Wet & dry sponges
  • Slash commands (with a handy auto complete feature).
    • Enable cheats for a world in the options screen for access, but note that Xbox Live achievements will be disabled when you’re using ‘em!
  • Custom key bindings! (Hooray for lefties!)
  • A new Creative inventory search feature
  • Add-On section for world settings
  • You can change game modes in Realms (note that doing this will restart the realm)
  • Ability to upload & download worlds in Realms
  • Ability to promote players as operators in Realms

  • UI improvements!
  • Performance improvements!
  • Tweaks to various mob action/behavior triggers, including fixing creeper explosions
  • Elder guardian de-buff visuals fixed (feedback from Android beta)
  • Fishing rods & arrows will fire in more than just one direction
  • Lots of tweaks to water textures to make underwater more fun
  • Tweaks to Realms settings
  • Visual tweaks to sun, moon & stars when rendering in VR immersive mode
  • Ridiculous numbers of bug fixes!

With the update rolling out today, crafters will have plenty to sift through on Minecraft Pocket Edition and the Windows 10 version of the game. The addition of Add-Ons will give players hours of content to engage with in addition to searching the endless seas for Ocean Monuments as well as their disgruntled inhabitants.

If you need some awesome new worlds to play in, make sure to check out our extensive list of awesome Minecraft seeds for all the latest versions.

It's that time of year again -- Mojang has revealed yet another spooky skin pack, Campfire Tales, as part of their Minecraft content for this year's Halloween. The Halloween themed skin pack will feature 16 scary new character skins that will be available for both Minecraft Pocket and Windows 10 Edition at a cost of $1.99.

The Campfire Tales skin pack will include: the jealous Headless Haunter, the vengeful Lumbering Jack, the obsessive Sea-Swallowed Captain, the hasty confectioner Crisp, the cursed Well Wisher, Rancid Anne, The Sham, Ol’ Diggy and the Risen Rose.

The Minecraft Twitter page has been revealing some twisted tales about each character since the start of October. You can view all these twisted tales here.

Alongside the Campfire Tales skin pack, Mojang has released the 0.15.10 update for Minecraft Pocket and Windows 10 Edition. While the update is rather small, it focuses heavily on fixing bug-related issues such as MINECON 2016 capes, which can now be obtained for a limited time only from the Google Play store for free using the code "MINECON2016". It also fixes a number of VR related issues.

For those interested, the full change log can be found below:

New Features:

  • Campfire Tales skin pack!

  • Fixed mirror texture issues.
  • Small fix to smart turning. (VR only)
  • Capes no longer clip through armor.

Bug Fixes:

Minecraft Adds Oculus Rift Support, Released Earlier this Week https://www.gameskinny.com/lk3sa/minecraft-adds-oculus-rift-support-released-earlier-this-week https://www.gameskinny.com/lk3sa/minecraft-adds-oculus-rift-support-released-earlier-this-week Thu, 18 Aug 2016 15:22:13 -0400 Jeremy "Digit" Brown

Mojang has announced that the Oculus Rift is now a supported virtual reality headset for Minecraft's Windows 10 edition. The game was reported to bring Oculus VR support back in September 2015.

In adding Oculus to its features, the game includes some quality of life improvements for VR, including VR control options for players using Xbox One controllers, and innate keyboard and mouse support.

The update also adds a bevvy of new options to the in-beta Windows 10 version, such as "MSAA for crisp visuals, new render distance settings that will make use of powerful VR graphics cards, and optimized Windows 10 DX11 performance."

Oculus Rift is part of Minecraft's ever-expanding roster of VR headsets to come to the game, with Samsung Gear VR getting support in April, as well as the augmented reality headset Microsoft Hololens once it launches commercially.

Mojang announces upcoming Minecraft Realms for Pocket and Windows 10 https://www.gameskinny.com/u277e/mojang-announces-upcoming-minecraft-realms-for-pocket-and-windows-10 https://www.gameskinny.com/u277e/mojang-announces-upcoming-minecraft-realms-for-pocket-and-windows-10 Wed, 13 Apr 2016 16:34:45 -0400 ESpalding

Yesterday Minecraft creators Mojang announced that they were in the process of creating Minecraft Realms for Pocket devices and Windows 10.

These new Realms will have cross-platform support across iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Windows 10 editions and will require Xbox Live accounts to make it possible. Since Minecraft was released on the Xbox 360 back in 2012, players have been using XBox Live across multiple platforms.

"... Now that we’re part of Microsoft, we have easy access to the fancy back-end systems and Xbox Live technology, so it was kind-of a no-brainer."

There is currently a free alpha running for Android users, but only if you have purchased a copy of Minecraft through Google Play and have an active Xbox Live account.

Mojang is not ready to disclose any price plans for the new Realm subscriptions; however, they have confirmed that players will not need a Xbox Live Gold subscription to be able to use the service.

Overworld Update for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and Pocket Edition https://www.gameskinny.com/jnklx/overworld-update-for-minecraft-windows-10-edition-beta-and-pocket-edition https://www.gameskinny.com/jnklx/overworld-update-for-minecraft-windows-10-edition-beta-and-pocket-edition Wed, 10 Feb 2016 11:02:19 -0500 Damian A. Hinton

Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition and Minecraft: Pocket Edition are going to receive the Overworld Update later this month, which will add a myriad of features. Here's a few notable features of the update:

  • The ability to create even more "mechanical contraptions" with additional redstone components.
  • You can now import and export maps, in order to share with friends.
  • You can also mount items and maps to using "Items Frames", in order to show off your adventures to visitors to your world,

This addition of these features will bring the Windows 10 and Pocket Editions - which both run in C++ - closer to the "original" version of Minecraft, that was created using Java. While the Java-based Minecraft can still be played as was originally intended, the C++ versions are meant to optimize the games code and allow the title to run more efficiently.

Fans of the series aren't completely happy about the existence of the new versions of the game, as its development seems to be prioritized over the Java-version of the title. While Microsoft seems to want a monopoly on the Minecraft series, it still exists in its original format across multiple platforms.

There is probably a good reason why the Java hasn't been phased out completely at the moment. While the Minecraft community has created many wonderful mods over the years, the newer Editions have no support for mods as of yet (you do have the option to add character skins).

What the Windows 10 Edition does offer is the ability to record your actions in-game with screenshots and video using Windows 10 "Game Bar." This version also supports the ability to play online with friends using your Xbox Live account.

The newer versions still require time to catch the original Minecraft in terms of gameplay options, as the Windows 10 Edition is still in beta at the moment. If you own a machine running Windows 10, you can download the beta for $9.99. The latest update will drop sometime later this month.

[Take me back to GameSkinny's Ultimate Minecraft Seed Guide]

For those who adopted Windows 10 early and took advantage of the free upgrade from previous editions of the OS, you may have noticed your favorite seeds no longer look the same (or even work at all) in the latest edition of Minecraft. The Minecraft Windows 10 beta version is modeled after the Pocket Edition, making it more streamlined to function seamlessly between PC and mobile devices running the new operating system. While that's handy for switching between tablets and desktops or playing multiplayer, the new version doesn't always play nice with older seeds.

These 10 awesome seeds – all completely compatible with the Windows 10 beta edition - will quickly become some of your favorites with their diverse lineup of biomes and inhabitants. Remember, though, these seed names are all case sensitive, so type them exactly as they appear! If a seed isn't working, check out our guide on seed errors.

Haven't grabbed the new Minecraft beta edition yet? If you already have the PC version of Minecraft, you get the Windows 10 edition at no cost, while anyone who is just getting into the Minecraft craze can jump in for only $9.99 through the Windows store. For those on the cutting edge, the Windows 10 version will also soon be adapted so you can experience Minecraft in a whole new way, with Oculus Rift support coming early next year.

Minecraft double biome

Seed: shadowscythe

Spawning next to a giant treehouse, this hilariously titled but no-nonsense seed lets you see the world of Minecraft from high in the boughs of a great forest. When you get tired of mining blocks of leaves and spelling out words in the treeline, there's some interesting locations to be discovered on the ground level as well, like some small pools that seem to double as public baths / watering holes for the local fauna.

Spawn Near Both Taiga And Forest

Minecraft taiga forest ice

Spawn Near A Huge Ocean

minecraft ocean water world
Seed: Water World

While it may not have Kevin Costner or Dennis Hopper, this aquatic style seed will let you walk the plank and explore a vast underwater world before drowning. If you're up for a serious swim (or you have some mad crafting skills), you just might find a way off the forlorn island and make it across to the larger, more abundantly populated area that's tantalizingly close but separated by a gulf of deep blue sea.

Spawn Near A Huge Underground Cavern Network

minecraft cavern superpig
Seed: super pig

For a place called “super pig,” there sure are a lot of cows in this gigantic mountain riddled through with endless cavernous expanses. minecraft mountain jakanddaxter
Seed: jakanddaxter

Fancy a long walk? Named after the classic Playstation platforming franchise, this seed is filled to the brim with sprawling hills that Just. Keep. Going. Chase sheep that seem to always have better footing than you up and down an infinite expanse of never ending steps. If you make it to the top you'll be rewarded with some pumpkins, just don't lose your step, because it's a long way down...

Spawn Near Rivers And Ravines

Minecraft river ravine
Seed: -455

A visually appealing seed that speaks of the grandeur of nature without having gigantic features that scrape the sky, this seed is all about ravines and valleys. There's shallow rivers galore and a whole lot of flora to pick up, not to mention some interesting tree layouts that let you travel across wide areas without ever actually setting foot on the ground.

Spawn Near The Coastline

Minecraft coastline pumpkin
Seed: 371910

An extremely diverse seed, this one starts you on a peninsula with quick access to nearby islands, deep water areas, and a huge inland with plenty to be discovered. Head away from the coast into the mainlaind and, besides finding plenty of flora and fauna, eventually you'll leave the standard trees and hillsides for a colder, snowier clime.

Spawn Near An Ocean City

Minecraft Ocean
Seed: 1413755523

If you liked the “Water World” seed but would prefer something with a more urban feel, this interesting little seed plops you into a city in the middle of the sea! With wooden planks running from building to building, there's not a whole lot to harvest or work with here, making survival mode a real challenge, and creative mode a ton of fun to simply explore across the chains of floating cities.

Apparently named after a porn site, this entertaining Minecraft world has a wide open savanna biome to explore, along with some massive, incredibly steep mesas. If you do manage to make your way to the top, there are some amazing vistas to discover along with some massive trees that let you go ever further skyward.

Awesome Redstone PC created by Minecraft fan for Windows 10 https://www.gameskinny.com/eszce/awesome-redstone-pc-created-by-minecraft-fan-for-windows-10 https://www.gameskinny.com/eszce/awesome-redstone-pc-created-by-minecraft-fan-for-windows-10 Wed, 12 Aug 2015 08:39:40 -0400 Courtney Gamache

Huge Minecraft fan Spencer Kern built his own Redstone PC. In honor of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, Kern built the PC with pure celebration in mind, and as a way of kicking off Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and Windows 10 itself.

From Toys to Tinkering, Planning the Epic PC

Kern didn't come up with the Redstone PC idea from scratch, but instead gaining inspiration from his tiny Redstone cube lamp that he had. From there the dimensions and planning took place, first with paper sketches and then moving forward into 3D model representation.

Trying to develop a PC case with proper ventilation while also keeping the integrity of the Redstone lamp inspiration was a difficult task, but he was able to accomplish it with proper planning.

Construction from Scratch - Making a Shell

Using a laser cutter, Kern precisely shaped the acrylic materials forming a two-part frame shell, with a mounting point that all electrical bits and shell siding can connect to. For backside and floor, Kern used 5mm thick sheets of acrylic, with internal shelves made of 1.5mm and 3mm thick acrylic.

To hold the acrylic in place, 14mm and 10mm bars operate as support beams. To weld the acrylic and bars together, Kern chose acrylic cement that provided a strong bond to keep the materials together.

For computer parts that are made to be removed, such as the motherboard, Kern used pressure fit nuts which didn't need a hole in the acrylic base.

Getting Techy with Internal Computer Bits

Since building a PC can be difficult on it's own, Kern took a very careful approach when assembling the necessary components such as PSU cables, fan cables, light strands, and the power switch.

Due to the Redstone PC being custom made, all the electrical components had to be carefully placed to avoid over heating that can cause irreversible damage.

Touching up the Case with Paint

While the hard part of building and constructing the computer parts and case had finished, Kern then focused on painting the Redstone themed PC with the perfect gloss that a Minecraft block would require.

A light grey base coat was used along with vinyl decals to simulate a patterned look resembling the block from the game. As a finishing touch, a poly finish in clear was used so the decals wouldn't lift from the shell. After all the hard work in designing, the shell now emulated a pixellated look.

Computer Accessories Themed Redstone

Spencer Kern couldn't just stop at creating the ultimate Redstone PC, and thus continued on creating essential accessories that are needed including a keyboard, mouse, Xbox One controller, and altering a headset.

Using the fact that Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition enables the Xbox One controller to be used, Kern believed a perfect accessory for this PC would be a custom controller featuring a chat pad.

Surprisingly, the keyboard was said to be the easiest part of the giant project since Kern was able to have custom key caps made professionally for his keyboard.

Spencer Kern did a wonderful job creating this Redstone-themed PC with peripherals that give any gamer the urge to play Minecraft

It's always mesmerizing how innovative some technicians can be in creating their custom electronic devices.

Minecraft to go cross-platform https://www.gameskinny.com/lxm09/minecraft-to-go-cross-platform https://www.gameskinny.com/lxm09/minecraft-to-go-cross-platform Fri, 07 Aug 2015 20:06:27 -0400 Anthony Jondreau

At Gamescom 2015, Mojang announced its first step toward delivering on its cross-platform promise with Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition. The most recent edition of the immensely popular sandbox game was released in beta last week, and it should soon be compatible with other versions of the game. According to CEO Jonas Martensson, the new code for Minecraft: Windows 10 edition will allow players to use an Xbox One controller, a touchscreen, or a keyboard and mouse to play the game. PC owners will also be able to play with users of Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Eventually, the company hopes, the Xbox version will join the party, although there was no mention about incorporating PlayStation.

Minecraft currenty has over 33 million users across PC, Xbox, and mobile platforms, and its multiplayer modes have brought people together to make some truly stunning creations. It's quite a community, but, as it stands, these 33 million people are separated from each other by their hardware of choice.

By taking down the barrier between controllers, allowing PC owners to use the three types of controls that are specific to each system, Minecraft shows that the biggest difference between versions doesn't mean that there can't be a level playing field. It's an important first step toward creating a cross-platform environment, an approach that has largely been ignored in the history of video games. It's also an example that gamers hope other companies will follow.

Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition is currently available in beta. A release date for the final version has not been determined.

Greek Mythology update for Minecraft Xbox Edition comes just days before Windows 10 update https://www.gameskinny.com/osvzf/greek-mythology-update-for-minecraft-xbox-edition-comes-just-days-before-windows-10-update https://www.gameskinny.com/osvzf/greek-mythology-update-for-minecraft-xbox-edition-comes-just-days-before-windows-10-update Sun, 26 Jul 2015 05:15:24 -0400 Courtney Gamache

Minecraft has been offering a bunch of downloadable content for its Xbox One and Xbox 360 editions, and this particular batch includes tons of Greek Mythology references.

In this new chunk of DLC, Mojang included 39 new skins that all were themed according to Greek Mythology. Along with the skins is a custom texture set, new UI, and a soundtrack composed by Gareth Coker.

Some of the major characters included in the pack are:

  • Cyclops
  • Hades
  • Hydra
  • Medusa
  • Zeus
  • Prometheus
  • Apollo

While some of these names might be used as X-Men and Marvel characters, they're all originally from Greek stories and myths.

Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Update

We're just days away from the new Windows 10 edition of Minecraft, set to release on July 29thWhile there are many new things coming with this edition, one of the major crowd-pleasing features is the built-in GameDVR.
