How to Warm Up in the Cold in LEGO Fortnite

If you’re new to survival games in general, you might be surprised by the hunger and temperature systems present in LEGO Fortnite. These can keep a playthrough interesting and aren’t that hard to deal with. I’ll be focusing on how to stay warm and not be cold in this guide, primarily because I got rained on soon after entering my first world and had to handle the situation.

How to Check Your Temperature in LEGO Fortnite

At the top left of the screen, underneath your character portrait and hunger meter, is a temperature scale bar. The bar ranges from freezing to burning, with cold, temperate, and hot in between. You’ll be able to tell how your temperature is veering by glancing at the meter.

You’ll lose health when you’re too hot or too cold, and will lose it at an even faster rate when you’re freezing or burning. You’ll want to avoid these temperatures at all costs.

How to Stay Warm in LEGO Fortnite

You don’t want to freeze to death, so you’ll want to be aware of how to stay warm as you explore and build. Luckily, there are a few ways to do just that, with one being portable. You can stay warm by:

  • Staying near a campfire.
  • Hang out in a shelter, such as a Simple Shack or anything with an appropriate roof.
  • Have a torch in your hand.

Naturally, rain and snow can both cool you down. You’ll want to stay in a shelter when it’s raining, if possible; but you can also carry a Torch to keep you warm as you travel.

How to Make a Campfire

The game instructs you to make a Campfire almost immediately. It can be done in the Builds menu and requires seven Wood.

How to Make a Torch

You can make a Torch in LEGO Fortnite using the Crafting Bench, and it requires three Wood and six Vines.

How to Make a Simple Shack

The Simple Shack can be built using the Builds menu rather than the Crafting Bench. You’ll find it under the Builds tab, and it requires the following materials: 13 Wood. As you upgrade your village, however, you’ll open more and more shelter options.
