New World is filled to the brim with different resources to collect, as crafting is one of the game’s major focuses. If you’re looking to start crafting clothing, you’ll need to get your hands on a resource called Fiber, which can only be gained through Hemp plants found throughout the world.
While the MMO’s tutorial does a decent job of explaining the basics when you start needing to look for specific resources things can get tricky. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about finding Hemp locations and getting Fiber in New World.
New World: Where to Find Hemp & Fiber
The good news is that Hemp can be found in dozens upon dozens of different places in New World. You’ll be looking for tall plants with purple flowers at the top (not the smaller plants that have purple flowers all over them).
Before you can think about harvesting Hemp you’ll want to make sure you have a Harvesting Sickle, which can easily be crafted at any campfire with one Green Wood (gained from bushes and trees) and one Flint (gained from Flint rocks).
When you’ve found Hemp out in the wild, simply walk up to it and press E to start harvesting. Once the gauge is depleted you’ll be rewarded with one or more pieces of Fiber.
If you open your map you’ll notice a section that’s titled Resource Locations, which will tell you which resources are in which biomes. Hemp is found in the Grassland and Forest areas, if you want to narrow your search.
There’s also another handy resource out there if you want to help narrow your search. The fan-made site New World Map has an interactive version of the map that lets you customize what you want to search for, including resources. You can use the search features to find specifically Hemp locations, as seen in the image below.
Hemp comes in handy whether your low or high level in New World, so it’s a good idea to pick up a bunch when you go to harvest, just so you have some on hand. Don’t forget you can always dump extra resources in the Storage Shed in any settlement, so don’t worry about loading up pounds of Fiber if you want to.
It might take a tiny bit of searching, but sooner or later you’ll be able to find some Hemp and Fiber.
