Baldur’s Gate 3: What’s the Best Sussur Weapon?

Among the three mage-slaying options, what's the best Sussur weapon in Baldur's Gate 3?

If you’re about to complete the “Finish the Masterwork Weapon” quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 but are wondering which Sussur Weapon to craft, you’ve come to the right place. This Blighted Village quest offers three unique rewards that can be crafted. What’s the best Sussur Weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Which Sussur Weapon is the Best in Baldur’s Gate 3

Once you get all the blueprints and your Sussur Bark, it can be difficult to decide which Sussur weapon to craft. I would say that all three actually have some unique characteristics that make them strong for specific builds. Therefore, the best one can alternate based on the classes in your party.

Let’s look at all three Sussur weapons and decide which one you should take, depending on your build. Note that all of them are +1 magic weapons and share the single characteristic of applying the Silenced condition. This status effect makes enemies unable to cast Spells with Verbal components. So, no matter your choice, I would suggest that the character wielding a Sussur weapon focus on casters in combat.

Sussur Sickle

The Sickle is an all-purpose Sussur weapon. Most characters can wield it, which can be combined with a shield as it’s a one-handed weapon. Its special property is the Lacerate attack, which can apply Bleed. Though this is a solid option, the special properties of the other two Sussur weapons might make them more powerful in the right hands. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend crafting the Sickle.

Sussur Greatsword

With Pommel Strike, Lacerate, and Cleave with a +1 weapon enchantment, I would say that the Sussur Greatsword is the flashiest of the three and arguably the most powerful. Also, it’s the two-handed option of the bunch. Therefore, if your main character can make use of a two-handed weapon like a Paladin, Barbarian, or Fighter, then I recommend crafting this option.

In general, a one-handed weapon and a shield are better options unless you have two-handed feats like Great Weapon Master or the Great Weapon Fighting style. In case you do, then the Sussur Greatsword is a must-have. For such builds, this greatsword can truly shine, and we have ranked it among one of our top 10 melee weapons in Baldur’s Gate.

Sussur Dagger

The Sussur Dagger shares many characteristics with the Sickle. However, it excels in certain Dexterity builds due to its Finesse property and the fact that I love dipping it in poison and other consumables. In fact, it’s one of my favorite weapons to use on my dual-wielding Dexterity builds for Rogues, Rangers, and Fighters. It makes you a bane for all mages.

It’s a much better option than the Sickle and I would say it can be better than the Greatsword contextually. Picture a Rogue with Cunning Action dashing across the battlefield to reach that spellcaster and silence them with a well-placed dagger strike. Outside of spells that don’t require vocal components, that caster cannot act effectively in combat for that turn. That’s what earned the Sussur Dagger a spot in our best finesse weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3.

So, in short, I recommend the Dagger as the best Sussur Weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3, depending on your build. The Greatsword is another fantastic option if you have a Barbarian, Paladin, or a Fighter. Great Weapon Masters will favor the later, and Dexterity-based builds the former. The Sickle simply doesn’t have the potential that the other two do.
