You’ve got to settle down if you want to make the most of your time in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, and in this iteration, you can marry eligible bachelors or bachelorettes no matter your gender.

How to Get Married in SoS: FoMT

The requirements to get married haven’t changed much over the years, and they aren’t anything crazy:

Get a character’s heart up to a red heart via gift giving and seeing/participating in their heart events. Once a character reaches a new heart level, you can find them at the right time and place to trigger the event for that tier.
Upgrade your house twice, to the Big House.
1. It costs 150 Lumber, 50 Material Stone, and 3000G for the first upgrade, to the Slightly Bigger House.
2. It costs 600 Lumber, 250 Material Stone, and 10000G for the second upgrade, to the Big House.
Buy the Large Bed from the shop.
Give your love interest a Preserved Flower, one of which will be given to you for free after triggering a character’s red heart event.

In the item listings below, items that are particularly easy to obtain are underlined to make this whole process easier. Don’t be afraid to give someone the same things every single day — it’s totally normal!

Gray’s Likes and Dislikes

Gray endears himself to most players because of the harsh treatment he receives from his grandfather, Saibara, but he comes to learn his way during his time in Mineral Town just as you do.

He catches a lot of flak from Saibara, but Gray is a hard worker with a kind heart. He spends most of his time at the forge, library, and inn.

The rival for Gray’s affection is Marie, and his birthday falls on Winter 6.

Kai’s Likes and Dislikes

Kai’s only in Mineral Town over the summer, but he has such an impact on it that Rick just won’t shut up about how much he hates Kai — even in winter.

Kai enjoys the relaxed pace of Mineral Town and the friendliness of its inhabitants, but he’s a little harder to woo since he’s only in town for one month of the year. Luckily, you can begin giving him pineapple near the end of summer, and a fair portion of his loved items are easy enough to obtain.

Popuri is the obvious rival for Kai’s love, and his birthday is Summer 22.

Doctor’s Likes and Dislikes

One of a pair that seems destined from the outset, Doctor spends just about all of his time at the clinic with Elly. He’s focused on the health of his patients, though, and not particularly on his ever-reliable nurse.

Doctor is focused on health and healthy living, just what one would expect from someone with the exact name of their profession. He spends most of his time at the clinic.

Doctor’s birthday falls on Fall 19, and your rival for him is Elly.

Cliff is perhaps the least obvious bachelor in Mineral Town, as he spends half of the first year sitting in church. It’s also possible to see him leave town completely if you don’t get him a job at the winery.

Provided you’ve taken the time to get Cliff a job, he’ll stay in town and you can woo him all the way to marriage. Since he’s essentially homeless unless you marry him, he’s not the pickiest guy out there.

Ran will swoop him up if you don’t, so be prepared for his Summer 6 birthday.

Rick’s a family man, which means his first priority is his mother and sister — and taking care of the family’s chicken farm.

Though he spends most of his time complaining initially, Rick slowly opens up to you about his protectiveness over Popuri and Lillia, and it turns out not to be that much of a stickler as he initially seems.

You’ll be competing with Karen for Rick’s attention, and his birthday comes on Fall 27.

Brandon is brand new to SoS: Friends of Mineral Town, and he’s relatively new to Mineral Town as a whole.

Spending most of his time up in Gotts’ workshop, Brandon is an artist and looks toward the beauty of nature for inspiration to create new works. He’s surprisingly open to simple gifts, using them to draw inspiration as well.

Unlike the other more straightforward bachelors, Brandon doesn’t have a love interest. His birthday comes around on Fall 7.

Huang is the easiest of the three secret bachelors, and he really only has one special requirement: buy the flower vase he offers you.

Unlike Kappa and Bon Vivant, Huang will stay at your home. Though he only comes home from 5 p.m. onward, he otherwise stays at Zack’s to peddle his wares.

There are no rivals for Huang, and his birthday is on Winter 19.

Bon Vivant’s Likes and Dislikes

Bon Vivant’s marriage requirements are a little different from what you might be used to in Friends of Mineral Town. One thing’s for certain: he certainly lives up to his title as gourmand.

You don’t have to worry about heart events with him, unlike most other marriage candidates. However, he’ll only be persistently present at your house on days 10, 20, and 30 or each month.

In order to tickle Bon Vivant’s fancy, you’ll need to:

Win the cooking competition five times: You likely won’t be able to in your first year, so this alone will push you to six years.
Cook every single recipe at least once
Get his affection high enough
Have a Big House with a Large Bed and grant him a Blue Feather, like everyone else

It’s worth noting that cooking once a day actually gives the same value of affection toward Bon Vivant as if you were talking to him.

You’ll only have an opportunity to give him a gift after the cooking festival (Spring 22, which is also his birthday). He will stay in the town square until 8 p.m. on the day of the cooking festival, so you’ll have to trek back out there to give him a gift.
